Scrum uses a number of artefacts or tools to help support the development process and track progress. These tools are as simple as they can be and should be viewed as a support for face to face communication and not a replacement for it.

Tools like Visual Studio Team System help capture the necessary data, formulate the artefacts and expose them electronically. A team will still benefit however from large printed or sketched versions of the artefacts adorning their team area. These are sometimes referred to as Information Radiators and contribute to the team's sense of purpose and motivation.

This section explains the Scrum specific artefacts and reports supported by Scrum for Team System:

  • Product Backlog
  • Sprint Backlog
  • Product Burndown Chart
  • Sprint Burndown Chart
  • Product Backlog Delta Report

In addition Scrum for Team System also provides some reports that although not described by Scrum are nevertheless useful in support of a Scrum Development process.

  • Impediment List
  • Bug Count
  • Bug Priority Chart
  • Bug History
  • Sprint Overview Chart
  • Sprint View
  • Product Backlog Composition
