Support for Retrospectives in Scrum for Team System
Scrum for Team System has a work item called a "Sprint Retrospective Item" to record the output from the Retrospective meetings. There are two queries that then enable team members to review the output at any time after the meetings.
Sprint Retrospective Items
Sprint Retrospective items are created using the same method as for Sprint Backlog and Product backlog items - right-clicking on the "Work Items" folder and adding a work item of "Sprint Retrospective" type. An example of a new Sprint Retrospective item being created is shown below:
There are three types of Sprint Retrospective items:
- What Didn't Go So Well - these items are used to record areas that the team felt didn't go as well as they would want.
- What We Can Do Better - identifies specific actions or activities that could improve on the areas that didn't go so well.
- What Went Well - identifies areas that the team see as positive to their performance.
The Sprint Retrospective fields are summarised below:

Sprint Retrospective Queries
The "All Sprint Retrospective Items" query simply lists all the Retrospective Items from all Sprints that apply to all teams and team members. To get a more refined view use the query column sort by functionality.
The "My Sprint Retrospective Items" query lists all the Retrospective Items that apply only to the team member running the query.
