Product Burndown by Day

Report Description

This Day by Day version of the Product Burndown chart gives a view of how the team are performing on a daily basis. It also show how new work and bugs are adding to the total amount of work and hence whether the team will be able to complete by the intended Release date.

It is quite normal to see the Day by Day burdnown chart "Burnup" when:

  • New Product Backlog items are added
  • New Bugs are added
  • Existing Product backlog items are re-estimated

The trend line provides an indicator based on progress as to whether the team's velocity versus the rate at which work is added will deliver the desired features by the desired Release end date (based on the Sprints configured in the Release).

If the oustanding work is changed dramatically through a re-estimation or descoping exercise, then the Linear Regression line can provide an unduly optimistic or pessimistic prediction for completion time. This effect tends to even out over the passage of a number of Sprints.
