Configuring Releases in Scrum for Team System

Scrum for Team System uses Team System's Iteration Path to hold the Release and Sprint hierarchy. The top level nodes of the Iteration Path should be one or more Releases, named in any suitable fashion, with one or more Sprints as child nodes under the Release nodes. When a new Scrum project is created, a set of template Releases and Sprints are automatically created:

The default Releases and Sprints can be modified to fit your particular project by renaming or deleting the existing nodes and adding new nodes. For example:

Sprints have corresponding Sprint work items that allow start and end dates to be assigned but Releases do not. Instead a Release start and end dates are inferred from the dates of the Sprints assigned to it in the Iteration Path hierarchy.
